Antonio Pennacchi's critically acclaimed novel Fascistkommunisten (Eng.: My Brother is an only child (2008)) was released in November, and described as a “rascal-novel” about growing up and finding ones own position in life. It is a tale of sexuality and family dispute, but also one of political activism and fanaticism. Antonio Pennacchi broke through in Denmark in 2013 with his family chronicle The Mussolini Canal; a novel about Italy’s historic development from feudal society around 1900 to the fall of fascism. A dramatic story told with a twinkle in the eye. Now Pennacchi has begun to edit some of his earlier novels (Il Fasciocommunista  was published in Italian for the first time in 2003 - and was filmed as "My Brother is an Only Child" in 2007) so that surnames and names converge with those in Canale Mussolini. These changes bind the novels together and paint a bigger and more complete picture of both Agro Pontino’s and Italy’s histories in the years leading up to and following World War II.

Pennacchi will be in conversation with his Danish translator Thomas Harder.

The event will be in Italian, with ongoing summaries in Danish.
