Author Event: Political Fantascism- When words turn into actions and actions cost lives.

The Italian author Antonio Pennacchi, winner of the prestigious Strega Prize for his internationally acclaimed Mussolini Kanalen, will be in conversation with his Danish translator Thomas Harder at Dokk1, Aarhus, on Thursday April 7th 2016, at 19:00, about his latest novel Fascistkommunisten.

Antonio Pennacchi has spent most of his life as a factory worker and a politically involved trade-union activist, before becoming a writer in later years.

Antonio Pennacchi broke through in Denmark in 2013 with his family saga Mussolini Kanalen; an impressive novel by its scope, about Italy’s historic development from feudal society around 1900 to the fall of fascism – a dramatic story told with a twinkle in the eye. In 2010, the novel won him Italy's most prestigious literary award: the Strega Prize.

Antonio Pennacchi's critically acclaimed novel Fascistkommunisten was released in Denmark in November 2015, and has been described as a “rascal-novel” about growing up and finding ones own position in life. It is a tale of sexuality and family dispute, but also one of political activism and fanaticism.

The novels shed light on the Italy’s history in the years leading up to and following World War II.
